James Parke, author of “Spirit of Modern Times”, long ago graduated from Yale College with a degree in Russian and Soviet Studies, and has recently retired from a successful career in international corporate financial management.

Now residing in Greenville, South Carolina, he keenly delves into blending genealogy and creative writing. An inspiration for writing Spirit of Modern Times was the life of his great-grandfather, Hervey Coke Parke, a character in the book and later a co-founder of the Parke, Davis & Co. pharmaceutical company.

James’s exploration of his ancestral roots led to this captivating tale of a thriving modern community in a bygone era.
